Personally, I like her fine without the sabers, but if you chose the more modern timeline, it'd work nicely as well. Personally I think the perhistoric timeline fits best for your storyline. (There were cities in the past...so it would fit.)

I'm very fond of her personality. She seems tough...very strong. I like. There should always be a strong female character in a story.
She seems to have a nice sense of reason...Harsh...but her reasoning isn't logically defective, so that's good. Bloodspill, I like. Quite much. A nice design to boot.
