Doesn't look like it O_O
It looks really good for your first try with gouache (I'm not a fan of this medium. I prefer watercolours because they're easier to handle I think. I don't like how gouache dries so fast.)
I really like your new character.
And I like your traditional art
I was gonna mention that you oughta lengthen the body out a little more next time. That's why he looks quite jackalish (like you mentioned before to me). Shepherds are more rectangular to the huskie square. They're longer than tall (though they are tall).
Good going maintaining that muzzle shape! It's a doozie, that big nose, but it sells the face.
