Lead Dog concept by KayFedewa Lead Dog concept by KayFedewa
a clip from one of our concepted pages that erin and i laid down a color test on

still messing with styles. i dont even have a name for this character yet and this is just one possible design. i have a quite different one in mind i want to try also.

he leads the team Auro is on.

storyboarding by :iconesda06: as well as background

looks like i accidentally uploaded it as a print again

Well done I must say. I especially love the way the sun is. The lines on the character certainly are brought out by the background. You and :iconfablepaint: should team up more often. I would approve it!

it's really fun to see that you've improved alot since you came back, I whant to give you some tips for that new concept... just some thing you should avoid before it's too late... If it's going to be for a story, try avoiding things that has already been done in balto, it will make it more original and people will sue you less. I really love the art style in this piece, just wondering if you were to use it for a comic, would it be this art style? because it may seem a bit messy, but trust me it would look great, I haven't seen any canine comics having this art style, it would be good for originality

odd . . . kind of disjointed, but there's a definite beauty to it. I really like the grainy, worn texture that sort of dominates the whole pic, really quite clever. and the composition is lovely as are the colors, of course. I love the sort of heat coming off the lead dog's body and the simple gestures you used for the other dogs. very different, very cool.

I really like the water colour style of this, eventhough it is a concept. But it just makes it just that bit different :) Also the faded guys, no detail but still striking.

Is the main in any relation to Auro's concept you did earlier? Or is it me reading in too deeply? XD

no blood relation. Still futzing with concept. i might try to make the coat colors more different to avoid confusion!

this is the type of harness that is used in the picture and most mushers [link] a 8 foot dog sled weighs about 30 pounds empty depending on the materials and construction some of the sleds that are on the Iditarod weigh around 5 pounds.

Haha, noooo, they're born to pull. They also wear a special harness that distributes the weight across the body so they're comfortable as they run.

Well, yeah, sure they can pull sleds and stuff, but...

Ahaha! Oh man, oh man no. these dogs. These dogs NEED to run miles and miles and miles. They're born to run and born to pull. You might as well tell a bird to not fly or an artist to not draw. One of the major problems with pet-huskies is that people don't exercise them NEARLY enough and they get crazy pent up, destructive, and get psychological problems as a result.
The dogs need to run. It's a working dog with different requirements than people. But anyway, a person has got to run too.

I really like the raw rough look you gave this. I'm trying to go for a sketchier look my self on my new comic, though its proving more difficult for me to break away from my former style. Anyways looks interesting, and its nice to see your stuff pop up in my inbox again =]
