What Im about to say has probably already been pretty apparent to many of you, and I'd even bet there's a good few who've been expecting a post like this for some months.  So here it is!

I'm at a place where I can no longer fulfill my role on the BBA project. But rather than abandon what we and our watchers deem as a good thing, I'm transferring project leadership to :iconesda06: . We have outlined a BBA series "reboot" with a lot of new story ideas and feedback from me, but she'll ultimately be taking the helm on producing it. (with luck I -may- help with the character drawing, depending on how things look for me when the time comes.)

I wholeheartedly apologize for not being able to follow through and give you, loyal readers and supporters of our work, a completed project. I've tortured myself with guilt over this, but Ive seen that all this time I simply needed to be honest with myself and everyone else and face the fact that i just cant do this right now. And rather than make everyone, chiefly my project partner, sit in limbo wondering what the hell is going on, the best thing to do is to hand over the reigns.

If I had to compare the "reboot" to the older work with just one phrase I would say that it has had a lot more thought put in to the story, characters and other elements. The BBA originally started one day when i was in highschool, sitting in my bedroom at my parents house on a rainy day, bored out of my skull. I hopped on to the bed with a hardcover book, a mechanical pencil and a sheet of printer paper. I remember thinking something along the lines of "I'm going to draw a comic page". And I just did. I didn't plan anything really well and I didn't expect anyone else would ever read it, let alone like it!

It's funny how things turn out. I've really loved this project. I've met so many great people, had so many awesome experiences and learned so much because of it. (I could also write a novel here with my reflections on all of this, but that might be pretty self indulgent.)

On another note, i also wanted to remind everyone it's ok to using our characters/story in your own art, comics, stories and posting them on the internet is totally fine. All we ask that you don't sell try to sell the work. :)

If you'd like you can continue to watch this gallery if youre interested in following the bba reboot. I'll probably be posting it here, but it will also be in :iconesda06:'s gallery and she'll be the one reading and responding to comments.

I think it's going to be pretty good! I hope you'll enjoy it.
Thank you again, my fellow Deviants, for the many years of unwavering support and comradery.

Most work that I upload to DA will be filed under Creative Commons: Attribution-Noncommercial. Please click [link] and it will explain very shortly and sweetly what this means for you.

The only work that will NOT be filed under CC will be fan art/gift art. There will be special notices under those pieces to remind you not to use the characters, as they don't belong to me. I am removing all commission work from my gallery.

While of course I hold copyright to my art, I allow anyone who likes my work to help themselves to it in a variety of ways. It's my small way of "giving back" to fans and others who have supported me in my creative endeavors.
If someone wants to trace, reference, recolor or repost my art for their own personal use, that's fine.

If people want to have fun and use my images in any other manner it does not threaten me in the least. I am flattered in fact by this, so don't even worry about asking me, just go ahead and feel free to use what you want.
So guys, while again I really appreciate your concerns for me and my work, please don't send notes about art theft unless the user is using my art or derivatives of my art to make money.

To comply with the creative commons license on DA, please simply place a link to this gallery, :iconkayfedewa:, in the "artist description" under anything that you upload here that would be considered a manipulation, copy, or repost of my work. Then, you will be totally in the clear and your deviation can't be reported as violating any rights.

These policies only pertain to me and my work. Do not apply these rules to every artist's work Please be aware that not everyone is as lax when it comes to their art being used by others. Always ASK another artist if it is acceptable before using their stuff. They may very well NOT allow their work to be reposted or manipulated. This is completely within the realms of their rights as the creators of the original artwork.

Best of luck, Kay! I've always loved the comic and I'm interested to see where it goes from here. <3

Ah, you wolf pack comic artists.

You throw something out, get legions of fans (because who doesn't love the sheer originality of a colourful wolf story), start shitting out merchandise to cash in on the buzz...

And then decide to reinvent the main character or story or start the comic all over again. Are any of you capable of finishing a story? Of giving your fans any sort of closure? Or will you just rehash the same beginning over and over again (making NEW merch for it each time, of course), to get your furry bucks and start all over again?

I apologise if this sounds like flaming or trolling. I have no emotional investment in these things at all (and, thank god, no financial one either), I just see these characters and comics and damned sparklewolves all over the front page every day, and marvel at the manipulation of the creators, and the blind fantard stupidity of the people that read them.

First a reminder to others that her and I have not talked for months. Therefore I am saying this on my own accord and self indulgence.

Little piper, something you and other I'm not a troll bots do not understand is that this journal is simply Kay's departure message that leaves nothing but an apology and a solution to those who have loyally followed her comic.

Quite a few fans are not as you say "rabidly defending her" nor do I feel she needs to be defended. Instead after reading her message I naively thought no one would care to poopoo on this as she offered nothing noteworthy to tear apart.

Well not only was I wrong there is a crapload of misinformation in your post.

First, I do not see your "legion", nor do I believe she has reached Stephanie Meyer's level of success nor has she done what she did and raped her fans with a crappy ending with no apology whatsoever. She's taking responsible steps, feeling tortured while ensuring that BBA is in better hands. She has spent a lot of time deliberating on it realizing the repercussions. This was not an overnight, "see you later suckers" but instead a self tortured "what do I have to do... what *CAN* I do" that was going on for months. But perhaps your lack of emotional investment leaves you clueless in empathizing with artists and the human race in general.

On that note, just because "you" have no emotional investment does not mean you're privy to being an ass calling her fans idiotic, like sheep, while believing you'll gain their acceptance. Nor are you automatically sentient and knowledgeable about a subject you wouldn't bother to care about.

So a few things you do not know.

First Kay often agrees with, imo baseless, criticisms and sweeping stereotypes such as yours therefore causing her to make decisions to align with critics. Had you any idea how she felt about improvement you'd probably realize what a mistake you've made lumping her with other artists who would indeed try to make a buck and run.

I'll be blunt and say of all the "sparkle dog" artists you've lumped her with she was the most willing to improve and the most non sparkle. She matured into someone who took criticism more seriously than her own art and that it has left her at this juncture.

What I wish you self ascribed internet geniuses who believe you're smarter and better than the rest is that people like Kay took you far more seriously than you ever took her. I wish she never wasted a second of her breath on people who spouts off enough BS to fill a grand canyon.

As for why people liked her comic, it has always been known there is no need to create a thesis to like a movie or book lest you thrive on weaving thespian logic into everyday joys such as baseball, sports, and food.

To me there is far less logic coming from someone who chooses to bash the individuals who likes such entertainment by making sweeping generalizations disguised as platitudes in order to placate potentially rabid fans and "bring them to the better side". Many of us see through this ploy and remain fans based on staying steadfast to our own likes and dislikes.

In simpler words, we're not emo enough to go with the bandwagon of "BBA SUCKS", you're still a troll damning BBA, and your words are filled with arrogance and an attitude filled of "OMG this sparkle dog comic is the same as the rest and it's just trying to make money and sucks".

You haven't bothered to read or understand the situation involved and probably just glanced off of ED and looked for an easy LUL.

Had you something sensible to contribute that will actually help BBA rather than just bawwing about it's popularity perhaps we would have reached a conversational juncture.

But your attitude is too crappy for most fans to respond to and the only reason why I am bothering is because you're probably deluding yourself and think that you're better than a troll.

Frankly the trolls who know what they are are far less annoying than you and I hope you wake up and smell the arrogance you stink of.

Usually people who put down things like this have no back-up for it, but since you do, I agree. Though I wasn't fond of the first line. It sounded like a sweeping generalization, and not all people who create comics are like that. Nor are the people who follow them. There us such a thing as following a story because it may have a good plot.

Indeed there is, though I've yet to see it with this particular 'genre'.

Hmm, true enough as far as I've seen.
It's kind of sad though, sometimes things that had potential are dropped like this; and that would prove your point more so.

Exactly. If Kay and Esda just started this comic for fun and then decided to sell of an audience, good for them. That's how opportunity is born. But what they should have done is stop where they were, hammer out the concepts, redraft it several times, and get a wide range of critique before producing and selling the comic. What they're doing now is what they should have done when they decided to sell it. I know Kay has a lot of stress in her life right now, but if I were a writer, I'd want my costumers to have a quality product.
