I believe, judging on the previous BBA comic as well as the shape of the bite, it may be the sabretooths.

I thought it could be them, too. Things actually point more toward it being sabres. But why is it burned? Unless the sabres live where there's fire? XD

That's pretty much the only part that has me stumped as well. I'd say it's possible the sabres have figured out a way to use fire to their advantage, a little like in The Lion King II with Vitani and Nuka.

Hmm, that's possible! The wolves clearly know how to flippin' TIE things without anthropomorphic paws, so I wouldn't be surprised if the saber-tooths learned how to use fire in that way.

I though humans at first but panel 3 definitely shows a saber bite. What gave it away is the mark of the front teeth between the 2 k9 stabs.

Oh, snap! Things are getting mysterious. The burns and bite make me wonder if there are sabertooth cats with some sort of fire magic. I remember in the original comic, there was magical power stuff as displayed by Swiftkill's rage scene and we do know that demons exist in this reboot's world as seen by the beginning of the comic...

I wonder if that demonic being who ate Swiftkill's mother can change forms and attacked this Equus in the form of a saber tooth and also used fire powers on it? Now I'm really curious and excited to see what's up! XD

I wonder how they did not notice the shadows being off in the second panel. Huntmaster Thorn's shadow is to the right (as if the sun is to the west of the panel) while the rest of the pack has their shadows above (as if the sun is to the south of the panel). In the third panel, the shadows flip on the rest of the pack to normal. Just thought I'd point this out since its a tiny bit distracting. Its very minor though and doesn't affect the comic much

Sun is coming from the east and the horse's head faces east. 2nd panel the sun would be at the bottom left of the panel. 3rd panel, the camera has rotated, so the sun is now coming from upper left.
